Everything you need on RootMC — economy, towns, shops, linking, and web tools on RootMC.

Player perspective play.rootmc.net

Overview

RootMC is a public survival multiplayer server. Economy, towns, and skills run on Root-Essentials, Towny, and mcMMO. The RootMC plugin and rootmc-shops link accounts, sync stats, power chest shops, and feed Root Shops on the web and in the RootMC Android app.

When you play here you get:

  • Gold-backed economy — balance in G; mining and selling gold is the main income loop.
  • Towny — claim land, grow towns and nations.
  • mcMMO — slower, long-term skill progression mirrored to the web after you link.
  • Player shopsrootmc-shops chest shops (QuickShop read during cutover).
  • Account linking — tie Minecraft to Discord (and optionally email) for stats, web tools, and RootMC app sync.
  • In-game capture/rootmc waypoint and /rootmc note sync to the app.
  • Root Shops — live prices, listings, net worth, stock market, and offline buy → in-game vault.
World RootMC · connect at play.rootmc.net (Java Edition). Join RootMC Discord for announcements and support.

Join the server

  1. Launch Minecraft Java Edition on a compatible version (currently 26.1).
  2. Join play.rootmc.net (or ask in RootMC Discord if the address changes).
  3. Open MultiplayerAdd Server → enter the announced address and any name you like (e.g. RootMC).
  4. Join and play. No mod pack is required for linking or stats — vanilla client is fine.

If you cannot connect, check that your game version matches the server and that your firewall allows outbound connections to port 25565. Ask in RootMC Discord if the server is down for maintenance.

First steps checklist

  1. Spawn in, set a home, and play normally — nothing special is required on day one.
  2. Run /rootmc link when you want your character linked to Discord and the website.
  3. Complete verification at rootmc.net/verify — enter your code and link with Discord.
  4. Run /rootmc status to confirm linking and copy your public stats URL.
  5. Optional: install the RootMC Android app and sign in with the same linked account.
  6. Mine and /sell ore — gold ingots are worth about 1 G each.
  7. Optional: browse Root Shops for live prices before you list items.

Economy (G)

RootMC uses Root-Essentials + Vault. Your balance shows as G in chat, shops, and Towny costs.

Earning G

  • /sell or sell signs — item values in root-essentials worth config; 1 gold ingot ≈ 1 G.
  • Player shops — sell to other players via QuickShop.
  • Town plots and jobs in the wild — trading, services, etc.

Spending G

  • Towny — founding a town, claiming plots, nations, outposts (see below).
  • QuickShop — buying from player chest shops.
  • Death tax — a small percent of balance on death (capped).

New players start at 0 G — plan to mine gold before founding a town (400 G to create one).

Towns & land (Towny)

Towny lets residents claim chunks for a town and set permissions. RootMC has no daily town or plot taxes — you pay one-time costs to found a town and claim land, not recurring upkeep.

Basics

  • /town new <name> — found a town (400 G).
  • /town claim — claim the chunk you stand in (cost scales per claim).
  • /town deposit <amount> — add G to the town bank (nations, upgrades).
  • /plot claim — personal plot inside a town when enabled by mayor.
  • /towny map — see nearby town borders.

What to expect

Rule of thumbValue
New town cost400 G
New nation cost2000 G
Plots per resident (max)24
Daily plot/town taxesNone
Closed economyNo free money from the server — earn via play

Full numbers live in server config; staff may tune one-time fees over time.

Link your account

Linking proves you own the Minecraft account. Run /rootmc link in-game for a short code, then finish on the website. The server picks up the result within a few minutes.

Step by step

  1. In-game, run /rootmc link.
  2. Chat shows a verification code and URL (expires in about 15 minutes).
  3. On your phone or PC, open rootmc.net/verify.
  4. Enter the code and choose Link with Discord (recommended).
  5. Back in-game, run /rootmc status — you should see linked status and your public stats link.
One linked Minecraft UUID per Discord account. If you already linked, /rootmc link tells you instead of issuing a new code.

Why link?

  • Public stats page with McMMO snapshot.
  • Linked-player role and in-game nickname on RootMC Discord.
  • RootMC app sync (when signed in with the same link).
  • In-game waypoints and notes appear in the app after sync.
  • Your shop signs can attribute listings to your username on Root Shops.

Your public stats page

After linking, /rootmc status prints a URL like:

https://rootmc.net/player/?uuid=<your-minecraft-uuid>

Or search by username at rootmc.net/player.

Anyone with the link can view:

  • Minecraft username and UUID
  • Whether the account is linked
  • McMMO skill levels (updated when the server syncs)
  • Shared worlds on your profile (if you use the app)

Stats refresh on a schedule (about every 5 minutes) and when operators run /rootmc sync. They are not real-time tick-by-tick.

McMMO on the web

RootMC runs mcMMO for skills (mining, woodcutting, combat, etc.). Progression is tuned for a longer grind than default — diminished returns after heavy play in one session, lower global XP, and mining pays less than vanilla mcMMO.

RootMC reads mcMMO’s MySQL tables (no extra install). Skill levels on your public stats page mirror in-game data after the next sync (~5 minutes) or when staff run /rootmc sync. Link first or stats stay empty on the web.

In-game placeholders when your account is linked:

PlaceholderMeaning
%rootmc_verified%true or false
%rootmc_account_id%Linked account id
%rootmc_email%Linked email (if synced)

Root Shops (economy browser)

Root Shops is the public web view of player shops on RootMC. RootMC collects listings from rootmc-shops first, then QuickShop (during cutover), ChestShop if present, then sign shops in loaded chunks.

On the shops page you can see:

  • Average prices — rolling average per item from active listings
  • Shop listings — item, price, world, coordinates, owner when known
  • Net worth leaderboard — Vault balance plus valued inventory (periodic snapshot)

In-game, run /rootmc shops to print the share URL. Filter by player with ?player=<uuid> on the web.

Opening a player shop (rootmc-shops)

Create a sell shop

  1. Place a chest and stock it with the item you sell.
  2. Hold the same item in your hand (for validation).
  3. Look at the chest and run /rootshops create <price> (price in G).
  4. If price exceeds the server cap, chat shows the max allowed (rolling average + 10%).

Buy from a shop

  • Right-click a listed shop chest — buys one stack at the listed price.
  • /buy <ITEM> [amount] — buys from the cheapest in-stock listing server-wide (up to 2304).

Manage your shop

  • /rootshops remove — look at your shop chest and remove the listing.
  • /rootshops avg <ITEM> — show rolling average and cap for an item.

QuickShop (legacy / cutover)

During migration, existing QuickShop-Hikari shops may still appear on Root Shops until recreated with rootmc-shops. New spawn shops should use rootmc-shops only.

Sign shops (fallback scan)

If you use raw signs instead, Root Shops still discovers them when the format matches:

LineContent
Line 1 (recommended)Your Minecraft name Steve or @Steve — attributes the listing to you on the web
Any lineItem in brackets, e.g. [DIAMOND] or [Oak Log] — normalized to a material name
Any linePrice number, e.g. 12.5 or 100
OptionalWord buy on a line marks a buy shop; otherwise treated as sell

Example sign:

@Alex
[DIAMOND]
Sell 50 each
50

Price cap (fair market)

New rootmc-shops listings and sign placements are blocked when price exceeds 10% above the current server rolling average for that item (when an average exists). You’ll see a chat message with the max allowed price.

Listings appear on the web after updates every few minutes and the chunk has been loaded at least once during a scan. QuickShop listings are preferred — they do not require custom sign formatting.

In-game notes & waypoints

After linking, save locations and quick notes in-game — they sync to the RootMC app on the next few minutes or when you refresh the RootMC tab.

CommandWhat it does
/rootmc waypoint [label]Save your position (alias: wp)
/rootmc note <text>Save a note at your location
/rootmc waypointsReminder that recent waypoints sync to the app
/rootmc notesReminder that recent notes sync to the app

Imported waypoints show a Recorded in-game badge in the app.

Vault & stock market (app)

From the RootMC Android app (linked account):

  • Stock market — rolling shop averages; buy offline from listings.
  • Vault — pending app purchases queue here until claimed in-game.

In-game claim: /rootmc vault (must be linked). Items deliver to your inventory or drop at your feet if full.

Live map

RootMC runs BlueMap at map.rootmc.net. Towny map links and the RootMC app open the same URL.

RootMC Android app

The RootMC Android app (Google Play) is the mobile companion — coordinates, worlds, stats, shops, stock market, and vault. Not required to play, but pairs with a linked account:

  • RootMC tab — stats, map, shops, stock market, vault
  • Cloud backup of notes and worlds when signed in
  • In-game waypoints/notes import with source badge

Use the same linked account you verified with /rootmc link.

FAQ

Do I need to link an account to play?

No. Linking is optional but unlocks Discord perks, web stats, RootMC app sync, and vault/stock market.

How often does the website update?

Typically every 5 minutes from scheduled sync, plus when staff run /rootmc sync.

Why isn’t my shop on the website?

rootmc-shops chests must be created with /rootshops create; legacy QuickShop/sign shops need valid format. The chunk must load during a scan. Wait for the next sync (~5 min) or ask staff to run /rootmc sync.

Why are my mcMMO stats empty on the web?

Link with /rootmc link first, then wait for sync. mcMMO must be writing to MySQL (default on RootMC).

How hard is mcMMO here?

Slower than default — plan for long-term progression. Grinding one skill all day hits diminished returns.

Is my inventory public?

Only economy totals (balances, item totals for leaderboard math) go to the cloud — not a full chest-by-chest map. Listings only include sign data you place in the world.

Who do I contact for help?

RootMC Discord — dedicated Minecraft server community (guild ID 1516108585740800042).
